Much of the work of HNXT is done between Board meetings by committees delegated to carry out designated portions of the organization’s mission.

Executive Committee — The Executive Committee is composed of the board co-chairs and the chairs of the board committees. This committee oversees the board’s work and makes recommendations regarding board governance.

Finance Committee — The Finance Committee shall coordinate the Board’s financial oversight responsibilities. The Committee shall administer and manage the fiscal and physical resources of HNXT.

Governance Committee —Ensure the Board has the proper structure, skills, and competence to function effectively.

Development Committee — The Development Committee shall oversee and engage in the fundraising activities of HNXT.
Violette Haldane, Chair

Program Committee — The Program committee will develop, implement, manage, and coordinate programs to educate and engage NRZ members and Hartford citizens about economic development, redevelopment, quality of life issues, leadership, community engagement and empowerment, and municipal government functions. Programming will also promote and enable community involvement in the government process to achieve NRZ and neighborhood goals and objectives. The committee will promote collaboration and partnership in its work.
Janice Castle, Chair

Communications and Marketing Committee — The Communications and Marketing Committee shall enhance the visibility of NRZs and Hartford NEXT, Inc. in the larger community. Janine McMahon, Chair

Environmental Ad Hoc Advisory Committee: The mission of this committee is to empower and inform Neighborhood Revitalization Zones (NRZs) and the larger community, encouraging a shift toward sustainable practices that improve every resident’s standard of life while preserving and safeguarding the natural environment in which they live.
